Graphics (X11)

X Server

Commands

  • X server resource database utility: xrdb
  • list all input devices: xinput list
  • list properties of an input device: xinput –list-props 16
  • show X events (for example to see keycodes): xev

Files

  • /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d: server configuration
  • ~/.xinitrc: environment from xinit (startx)
  • ~/.xprofile: environment from a display manager, for example XFCE
  • ~/.xsessionrc: executed on Debian/Ubuntu GUI login (Gnome3, LXDE, …)
Creating a symlink might be a good idea:
ln -s .xinitrc .xsessionrc
